Do You Viggle? Earn Gift Cards or a Kindle Fire for Watching TV!

4/16/2012

While this point-earning program does not hand over cold, hard cash, it provides a super simple way to earn points that you can exchange for gift cards or products. In my book, if you can get gift cards for stores where you would be shopping anyways, that's the same as making extra money, so I'm putting this in the money-making category.

What it is: Viggle is a new point-earning app for iPhones, iPads and iPods that will soon also be available for Android devices. This is one of the few chances in life to actually get paid for watching television. If you aren't much of a television watcher, you can still easily earn points to redeem for gift cards by watching short videos on your phone. But if you are a big television fan, you will be amazed at how quickly you can earn points by watching videos on your phone while watching your favorite television programs (after checking in, of course).

How to Earn: Check in while watching television programs, watch videos, play along on your phone during television programs, share your check-ins

Rewards: Gift cards (specifically: e-gift cards delivered via email), charitable donations, movie tickets, products (like a Kindle Fire or iPod Touch)

My Experience: During the first nine days after signing up for Viggle, I earned just over 37,500 points, which includes a 1,500-point bonus for signing up. That is enough for one $25 Best Buy gift card or five $5 gift cards to stores like Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Sephora and more. I've noticed that new reward options are still being added, which makes sense, since this is a new program. I have probably earned these initial points a little quicker than the average (non-TV addict) user would, since I have specifically been testing out this program to include on the blog; however, even if you use the app less than I did in my first nine days, it will be super easy to earn points. On the other hand, if really like television, you can rack up points way faster than I did.

Getting Started: Download the app from the iTunes store. Visit the Viggle website to learn more.

Ebates: Earn Cash Back for Your Regular Online Shopping

4/16/2012

Folks who like to save money usually also like to know about ways to make money. So I am going to start adding some posts about different websites and programs that offer legitimate ways to make money online. I will only be adding programs that have been tested out either by me or by someone I know who has confirmed that the program is legitimate and has paid them.

Let's get started with the first one, shall we?

_Have you discovered Ebates yet? If not, read on to find out how easy it is to earn cash back when doing the regular online shopping you would be doing anyways.

What it is: Ebates is an easy way to earn cash back for purchases you make online. By shopping online through Ebates, you can enjoy special discounts using coupon codes provided on the site, while also earning cold, hard cash every time you make a purchase at a participating online retailer. There is no membership fee and no mail-in rebate forms or other hoops to jump through --– you just shop online through Ebates and earn cash back.

How to Earn: Shop online at more than 1,500 retailers and earn cash back for every purchase. For example, at the time of this writing, Sephora shoppers receive 8% cash back, Target shoppers get 6% cash back, Best Buy customers receive 1% to 3.6% cash back and Drugstore.com shoppers get 6% cash back. You simply login to the Ebates website before you do the online shopping you would be doing anyways. You can even add your favorite stores to your profile to make it faster and more convenient to find the stores you regularly shop at online.

Rewards: Money! You can choose to either receive a check in the mail or a deposit in your PayPal account for whatever you have earned during each three-month earning period. You can also opt to have the money you earn donated to a charity or sent to a family member. The minimum payout per quarter is $5.01, so if you have earned less than that, they will just roll that over into the next earning period.

My Experience: This cash back program couldn’t be simpler. You sign up with just your email address, so it’s easy to get started and see if you like the program. I don’t do anything special; I just shop online like I normally would at retailers I would normally visit. You can track your earnings as you go along, which is nice. Then, every three months, you get paid whatever cash back you have earned (if there is $5.01 or more in your Ebates account at that time). I use this program, so I can verify that it is a legitimate way to earn cash back when shopping online. It’s also great to get to stack deals by using coupon codes and earning cash back on the same purchase.

Getting Started: Head over to the Ebates website to sign up. Once you are there, you will find all the information you need to start earning cash back every time you shop online.

_ Verba volant, scripta manent (Translation: Spoken words fly away; writings remain.)

At 21 years old, Jen Livingston of Exaltation already has three years as a self-employed entrepreneur under her belt. Living a happily nomadic life with her feline friend, Lilavati, Jen creates one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces, including upcycled clothing and wire jewelry.

She draws heavily from her love of language, science and spirituality as she creates each unique piece, and is driven by her desire to create eco-friendly, affordable conversation starters that express each wearer’s values and individuality. While always striving to keep Exaltation as Earth-friendly and sustainable as possible, Jen also works to make the world a better place by donating a portion of each sale to charitable organizations -- most often to environmental or educational causes.

When you head over to the Exaltation shop on Etsy, you will find both casual and elegant fashions crafted from recycled clothing that Jen weaves, shreds, deconstructs, reconstructs, dyes and hand paints. You will also find some awesome wire jewelry designs that are all about self-expression. Whether you’re addicted to caffeine or chocolate, dedicated to yoga or meditation, want everyone you meet to instantly know you are vegan, or just want to express yourself with the simple phrase, “Eff You See Kay,” Jen’s wire jewelry has you covered.

Once you have managed to pick a necklace or five, your purchase will be mailed to you in one-of-a-kind stationary, which Jen hand dyes using a bubble-coloring process.

And since you know I love sharing a deal with you, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that Jen is offering a discount on her already affordable, handmade awesomeness.

Picture
_Here’s the deal:

Cheap Vegan Chick readers get to enjoy a buy three necklaces, get one free deal.

This is particularly awesome when it comes time to purchase holiday gifts, buy gifts for a commitment ceremony or wedding party, make sure your inner circle of besties has some matching wire jewelry goodness, or expand your handmade jewelry wardrobe to include unique, personalized pieces.

To get this buy three, get one free deal, all you need to do is order three necklaces through the regular ordering process, and then let Jen know your fourth necklace choice in the spot where you can send a note to the seller.

Additionally, returning customers get 10% off all future orders -- forever. You will receive a coupon code for this everlasting 10% discount after you complete your first purchase.

I’m already equally in love with the OM symbol ring and the vegan necklace, but the Eff You See Kay necklace is coming in at a close second. Jen has tons of designs from which to choose, and she loves a custom order, so head over to the Exaltation Etsy shop to start drooling.

Frozen Berries for Vegan Smoothies - $1.98 at Winco

Frozen Mixed Berries - Just Out of the Freezer
Okay, I know that I recently reported on finding frozen berries at my local dollar store, and I was pretty excited. Since then, I have returned to the Dollar Tree once a week in hopes of finding berries, but there has not been a frozen berry in sight for weeks now. (They do still have flax seeds, though.)

I go through a lot of berries for my vegan breakfast smoothies -- and we all know how damn expensive berries are -- so I went on the hunt for a new source. Sure, I prefer buying organic when I can, but I've decided that organic frozen berries are something I will only buy when there is a really good sale. So I've mostly been purchasing conventional berries for my vegan smoothies these days, and I was determined to find an affordable alternative, since we can't rely on the dollar store.

I found it! Winco has Hy-Top frozen mixed berries for just $1.98...and they are SO much better than the ones from the Dollar Tree.

I wish I had a picture of the dollar store berries so that I could show you the difference, but you will just have to trust me that these look and taste WAY better. Plus, this berry medley has blueberries - that much-loved superfood - which were not in the dollar store option.

Yes, these are almost twice the price ($1.98, instead of $1.00), but that is still much, much cheaper than the price for frozen berries at most grocery stores. I will now be buying these berries for use in my vegan smoothie recipes from now on -- except, of course, when I buy organic!

Earth Therapeutics Pro-Organic Cracked Heel Repair - $5.99 at Marshalls

4/12/2012

While I was out saving all that money at Fred Meyer, I also stopped by Marshalls, since I often find some good vegan deals there.

This time, I found Earth Therapeutics Pro-Organic Cracked Heel Repair for just $5.99. I've seen this for sale for $9.99 at other stores, so even though we can use Earth Therapeutics coupons elsewhere (Marshalls does not take coupons), this is still a better price.

If you have a Marshalls near you, stop by to see if they have this vegan deal at your local store. While you are there, also keep an eye out for Mrs. May's snacks on clearance. I picked up four bags super cheap on my last trip.

My apologies for the crappy pictures!

My Fred Meyer Trip - Organic Kale Clearance and Cheap Toilet Paper!

4/12/2012

While I was out running errands last night, I found some great deals on vegan products. One of my stops was at Fred Meyer to pick up some produce and toilet paper...here is what I found!

Marcal Small Steps Bathroom Tissue (12 double rolls)
Sale Price: $4.99
I used four $1.00 off Marcal products coupons, which made each package of Marcal Small Steps Bathroom Tissue just $3.99.

The cheapest I have ever been able to get Marcal Small Steps at Fred Meyer is $2.99 (sale price of $3.99 and used $1.00 off coupons), but I have not seen that price since last year. So - until I see it that low again, I am now considering a sale price of $4.99 + $1.00 off coupons (to make it $3.99) a stock-up price.

If you need printable coupons for Marcal Small Steps products, get a $1.00 off printable coupon here. Don't forget to hit the back button to print this coupon twice.

When I hit the produce department to pick up some $.39 green onions and $2.00-per-container organic grape tomatoes, I found this great clearance deal on packaged organic kale salad.

Harvest Sensations Organic Kale Salad
Regular Price: $4.89
Current Sale Price: $3.99
Clearance Price: $1.99

And here is how pretty my cheap organic kale salad looked with some of those organic grape tomatoes that are also on sale:
